Gastrostomy-related pancreatitis in a child: a fatal case.

A case of acute pancreatitis following gastrostomy feeding tube insertion is presented. This is a rare and fatal complication, which has not been described before. The role of the gastrostomy catheter and total enteral nutrition in the causation of acute pancreatitis is discussed. Pathologists and clinicians should be aware of this disastrous and potentially avoidable condition.
