To examine a 33-year-old woman who had an enlarged scotoma in her right eye and who was diagnosed with acute zonal occult outer retinopathy.
We performed a full ophthalmologic examination and scanning laser ophthalmoscopy.
With a 514-nm wavelength laser, scanning laser ophthalmoscopy demonstrated abnormal lesions bilaterally. No abnormalities were detected with a 630-nm wavelength laser.
Scanning laser ophthalmoscopy can demonstrate retinal damage caused by acute zonal occult outer retinopathy, which is useful in differential diagnosis.
