Abstract
The quantitative morphological characteristics of three types of mitochondria in adult rat cardiac myocytes are presented. The existence of two mitochondrial functional modes depending on the intracellular localization and condition of the myofibrillar apparatus has been revealed. The quantitative correlation between the types of these organelles during ontogenesis has been estimated.
