Abstract
- According to Psychodynamic Theory the reason why most people choose a career has to do with childhood experiences. 2. Both qualitative and quantitative data suggest that nurses' burnout is caused by a failure to derive existential significance from work. 3. Nurses' sense of significance seems to be related to control and is often caused by childhood experiences of lack of control.
