Abstract

BACKGROUND

Propolis is a resinous material collected by bees from various plants. It has antimicrobial, antioxidative, immunostimulative, and regenerative properties. We determined the scolicidal effect of propolis in different concentrations and various exposure times.

MATERIALS AND METHODS

Tubes containing Echinococcus granulosus protoscoleces were supplemented with different concentrations of ethyl alcohol extract of propolis. At the end of the incubation times, viability of protoscoleces was assessed by trypan blue exclusion test. We also applied 5 ml of 1 microg/ml propolis intraperitoneally for determination of side effects and mortality rates.

RESULTS

We determined that 1 microg/ml concentration of propolis killed all of the protoscoleces at the end of the 3rd minute. In the in vivo part of the study, intraperitoneal application of propolis did not cause any side effects or mortality.

CONCLUSION

We concluded that this natural agent can be used as a potent scolicidal agent after studies which will determine in vivo efficacy and the effects on liver and biliary tree when injected directly into the common bile duct.

蜂胶是蜜蜂从各种植物中采集的树脂状物质。它具有抗菌、抗氧化、免疫刺激和再生特性。我们测定了不同浓度和不同暴露时间的蜂胶的杀头节效果。

材料与方法

向含有细粒棘球绦虫原头节的试管中添加不同浓度的蜂胶乙醇提取物。孵育期结束时,通过台盼蓝排斥试验评估原头节的活力。我们还腹腔注射5毫升1微克/毫升的蜂胶以测定副作用和死亡率。

结果

我们确定,在第3分钟结束时,1微克/毫升浓度的蜂胶杀死了所有原头节。在该研究的体内部分,腹腔注射蜂胶未引起任何副作用或死亡。

结论

我们得出结论,在进行确定其体内疗效以及直接注入胆总管时对肝脏和胆管树的影响的研究之后,这种天然物质可作为一种有效的杀头节剂使用。
