Abstract

PURPOSE

To investigate ability of vitamin A (VA, retinol palmitate) to promote wound healing after injury in rabbit eye.

METHODS

After keratoconjunctival injury by 20 microL of n-heptanol, VA eye drops at 500, 1000, or 1500 IU/mL were started 6 times a day for 11 days. Fluorescein and rose bengal staining and histological analysis were performed.

RESULTS

Fluorescein staining was significantly reduced by 1000 and 1500 IU/mL of VA and rose bengal staining by all concentrations. Histological examination revealed acceleration of wound healing after 7 days (1500 IU/mL).

CONCLUSIONS

VA may be useful in treatment of keratoconjunctival injury.

目的

研究维生素A(VA,视黄醇棕榈酸酯)促进兔眼损伤后伤口愈合的能力。

方法

用20微升正庚醇造成角结膜损伤后,开始每天6次滴入浓度为500、1000或1500国际单位/毫升的VA眼药水,持续11天。进行荧光素和孟加拉玫瑰红染色以及组织学分析。

结果

1000和1500国际单位/毫升的VA显著减少了荧光素染色,所有浓度的VA均减少了孟加拉玫瑰红染色。组织学检查显示7天后(1500国际单位/毫升)伤口愈合加速。

结论

VA可能对角结膜损伤的治疗有用。
