Company doctors or industrial health officers are involved in alcohol prevention in different ways. The measures to be taken range from direct aid to alcohol-dependent employees to educational work directed at the employees as a whole. It often transpires that this preventive range of action is a highly sensitive area within the doctor's medical activism the company. For example, measures to be taken within the framework of an agreement between management and labour may negatively affect the atmosphere of confidence between doctor and workers. The article also points out how important it is for honorary addiction helpers in a company to be supported by the company doctor in their task.
