Small and medium-sized enterprises occupy a special position in respect of health care. The prerequisites are of course quite different from those obtaining in large companies, not only with regard to occupational medicine. General health care measures must also be approached and mapped out differently. These small firms often lack specific experts in work safety so that the doctor specialising in occupational medicine must look after a variety of different medical and other matters. He must also be conversant with many different labour and production specialties arising in different firms.
