依据作者二十多年来对动物类药材及药用动物的研究，结合现代动物分类学成果，对比新版药典中动物类药材来源的内容。
对五倍子、瓦楞子、乌梢蛇、虻虫等十五种动物类药材的分类地位、中文名及拉丁学名等来源提出修订建议。
动物类药材来源的准确性对保证中药质量至关重要。作为国家级中药法典，应与时俱进，积极吸收和采用最新科研成果。同时，应利用现代分子生物学技术有计划、系统地开展传统动物类药材来源的研究。
