To summarize the clinical characteristics, epidemiology, and treatment of uterine carcinosarcoma.
Recent studies have suggested that uterine carcinosarcomas are aggressive neoplasms that carry a poor prognosis even when diagnosed at an early stage. Treatment is typically surgical. The ideal adjuvant treatment remains unknown. A number of recent studies have examined the influence of radiation, chemotherapy, and combinations of chemotherapy and radiation for uterine carcinosarcoma.
Carcinosarcoma is an aggressive neoplasm. A number of studies are underway to determine the optimal adjuvant therapy for these tumors.
