The title compound, Cu(C(13)H(8)N(5)O)Cl, has a chain structure parallel to [100] with Cu(2+) cations in a trigonal-bipyramidal coordination environment. The ligand adopts a tridentate tripyridyl coordination mode and a chloride ion acts as a bridge. The chains are linked via weak C-H⋯O and C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional supra-molecular network.
