Though supervision has a central part in training there is little systematic study about how supervisees learn and how supervisors teach. After discussing the dynamics of interaction between trainees and supervisors and the necessity to differentiate between teaching and learning, the author summarizes the conclusions drawn from his own systematic study of the learning process in supervision.
