Abstract

OBJECTIVE

THE AIM OF THIS STUDY WAS TO EVALUATE THE MINERAL CONTENT OF DENTIN IRRADIATION WITH ERBIUM: yttrium-aliminum-garnet (Er:YAG), Neodmiyum:yttrium-aliminum garnet (Nd:YAG) and potassium titanium phosphate (KTP) laser used for in the treatment of dentin hypersensitivity.

METHODS

Six extracted wisdom, unerupted molar teeth were used in this study. The enamel of the teeth was removed with a conventional bur under water cooling to expose the dentin surface. The teeth were mounted in a slow-speed, diamond-saw, sectioning machine. Two dentin slabs were obtained from each tooth and each slab was sectioned so that 4 slabs were made from each teeth. Then dentin slabs were randomly divided into four groups. Group A: Control Group, Group B: Er:YAG laser, Group C: Nd:YAG laser, Group D: KTP laser. The levels of Ca, K, Mg, Na,P and Ca/P mineral ratio in each dentin slab were measured by inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES). Data were analysed by one way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Tukey HSD tests. One sample from each group was prepared for scanning electron microscopy (SEM).

RESULTS

There were no significant differences between the groups for Ca, K, Mg, Na,P and Ca/P mineral ratio (P>.05). SEM photographs indicated that there were melted areas around the exposed dentin tubules in groups treated with Er:YAG and KTP lasers.

CONCLUSION

This study demonstrated that laser etching with the Er:YAG, Nd:YAG, KTP laser systems did not affect the compositional structure of the dentin surfaces.

目的

本研究旨在评估铒:钇铝石榴石(Er:YAG)、钕:钇铝石榴石(Nd:YAG)和磷酸钛钾(KTP)激光用于治疗牙本质过敏时牙本质的矿物质含量。

方法

本研究使用了六颗拔除的未萌出智齿。在水冷条件下用传统车针去除牙齿的釉质以暴露牙本质表面。将牙齿固定在低速金刚石锯切片机上。从每颗牙齿获取两块牙本质片,每块牙本质片再进行切片,使得每颗牙齿制成4片牙本质片。然后将牙本质片随机分为四组。A组:对照组,B组:Er:YAG激光组,C组:Nd:YAG激光组,D组:KTP激光组。通过电感耦合等离子体原子发射光谱法(ICP - AES)测量每块牙本质片中钙、钾、镁、钠、磷的含量以及钙/磷矿物质比例。数据采用单因素方差分析(ANOVA)和Tukey HSD检验进行分析。每组制备一个样本用于扫描电子显微镜(SEM)观察。

结果

各组之间钙、钾、镁、钠、磷的含量以及钙/磷矿物质比例无显著差异(P>0.05)。扫描电子显微镜照片显示,在使用Er:YAG和KTP激光治疗的组中,暴露的牙本质小管周围存在熔化区域。

结论
