Abstract

OBJECTIVE

To evaluate the effects of resveratrol in a rat model of polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS).

STUDY DESIGN

After PCOS model was formed by subcutaneous dihydrotestosterone pellets, rats were randomly divided into 2 groups. The first group (n = 7) was treated with 1 mL/kg/d isotonic saline and the second group (n = 7) was treated with 10 mg/kg/d resveratrol. Seven rats were taken as controls without any medication.

RESULTS

Our results showed (1) significant reduction in the number of antral follicle counts (P < .01); (2) significantly decreased plasma anti-Mullerian hormone and insulin-like growth factor 1 levels (P < .01 and P < .05, respectively); (3) significantly lower superoxide dismutase activity (P < .05); and (4) significantly increased glutathione peroxidase content (P < .01) following resveratrol treatment.

CONCLUSION

Resveratrol appears to be effective in the treatment of PCOS due to its antioxidant properties. Future clinical studies with different dosages might provide useful implementations to our practice.

目的

评估白藜芦醇对多囊卵巢综合征(PCOS)大鼠模型的影响。

研究设计

通过皮下植入二氢睾酮丸剂建立PCOS模型后,将大鼠随机分为2组。第一组(n = 7)给予1 mL/kg/d等渗盐水,第二组(n = 7)给予10 mg/kg/d白藜芦醇。选取7只大鼠作为未接受任何药物治疗的对照组。

结果

我们的结果显示,白藜芦醇治疗后:(1)窦状卵泡计数显著减少(P < 0.01);(2)血浆抗苗勒管激素和胰岛素样生长因子1水平显著降低(分别为P < 0.01和P < 0.05);(3)超氧化物歧化酶活性显著降低(P < 0.05);(4)谷胱甘肽过氧化物酶含量显著增加(P < 0.01)。

结论

由于其抗氧化特性,白藜芦醇似乎对PCOS治疗有效。未来不同剂量的临床研究可能会为我们的实践提供有用的应用。
