Lichen spinulosus is a benign follicular eruption seen primarily in younger persons and is frequently classified among the follicular keratoses. Grouped patches of spinous papules are seen involving the elbows, knees, and buttocks. An atopic background is frequently present in these patients. We describe here a patient treated with multiple modalities over eleven years without appreciable benefit and whose condition showed significant clearing after his first visit to a dermatologist. An overview of this unusual disease process is presented.
