The authors treated in advance two groups of pregnant rats of Wistar strain with indomethacin in doses of 3 mg/kg of body mass and 5 mg/kg of body mass for a period of 2 days. Then the animals were killed on 18th, 19th and 20th day of gestation and the change in the lung surfactant of amniotic fluid was determined by the method of the black foam film. There was threshold dilution in both groups of treated rats in comparison with the control group. They found changes in the gastrointestinal tract of the mother and fetus death of some fetuses after larger parenteral administration of larger dose of indomethacin. An inference is made for the negative effect of indomethacin on lung maturation.
