A novel Gram-stain-negative, strictly aerobic, rod-shaped and agar-hydrolysing bacterium, designated D2, was isolated from a marine sediment sample collected from the coast of Weihai, China (37° 31' 59″ N 122° 03' 47″ E). The cells were motile by a lateral flagellum. Growth was observed at 10-42 °C, at pH 6.0-9.0 and with 0.5-8 % (w/v) NaCl. Phylogenetic analysis based on the 16S rRNA gene sequence showed that strain D2 belonged to the genus Catenovulum, appearing closely related to Catenovulum agarivorans YM01 (96.3 % 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity) and Catenovulum maritimumQ1 (93.9 %). The dominant fatty acids were summed feature 3 (C16 : 1ω7c and/or iso-C15 : 0 2-OH), C16 : 0 and C10 : 0 3-OH. The polar lipids were phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylglycerol, two phosphoaminolipids, two unknown lipids and three phospholipids. Ubiquinone 8 (Q-8) was found to be the major respiratory quinone. The DNA G+C content was 40.4 mol%. On the basis of genotypic, phenotypic and phylogenetic evidence, strain D2 is presented as a representative of a novel species of the genus Catenovulum, for which the name Catenovulum sediminis sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is D2 (=KCTC 42869=MCCC 1H00129). An emended description of the genus Catenovulum is also provided.
从中国威海海岸(北纬37°31′59″,东经122°03′47″)采集的海洋沉积物样本中分离出一株新型革兰氏阴性、严格需氧、杆状且能水解琼脂的细菌,命名为D2。细胞通过侧生鞭毛运动。在10 - 42 °C、pH 6.0 - 9.0和0.5 - 8 %(w/v)NaCl条件下可观察到生长。基于16S rRNA基因序列的系统发育分析表明,菌株D2属于链环菌属,与琼脂链环菌YM01(16S rRNA基因序列相似性为96.3 %)和海洋链环菌Q1(93.9 %)密切相关。主要脂肪酸为总和特征3(C16 : 1ω7c和/或异C15 : 0 2 - OH)、C16 : 0和C10 : 0 3 - OH。极性脂为磷脂酰乙醇胺、磷脂酰甘油、两种磷酸氨基脂、两种未知脂和三种磷脂。发现泛醌8(Q - 8)是主要呼吸醌。DNA G + C含量为40.4 mol%。基于基因型、表型和系统发育证据,菌株D2被认为是链环菌属一个新物种的代表,为此提出链环菌属新种名称链环菌属沉积物种(Catenovulum sediminis sp. nov.)。模式菌株为D2(=KCTC 42869 = MCCC 1H00129)。还提供了链环菌属的修订描述。
