The effectiveness of anthelmintics may diminish within approximately 10 yr of use relying on several factors such as anthelmintic resistance. This study aimed to assess in vitro effect of fruits extract on the cuticle of adult worm of as naturally alternative therapy.
fruits were procured from the local markets in Aswan, Upper Egypt and authenticated at the Herbarium of National Research Centre. The effect of methanolic extract of fruits on adult after 24 and 48 h incubating the parasites in Ringer solution containing 240 μg/ml extract was determined by scanning electron microscopy.
The main changes induced by treatment with the tested extract were wrinkled cuticular surface and deformed sensory papillae. This cuticular distortion would undoubtedly disrupt its protective function and might be enough to expel worms from dog's intestine.
The use of this plant offers a chance for new nematocidal agent, which is economical alternative for the more expensive anthelmintics.
由于抗寄生虫药耐药性等多种因素,驱虫药的有效性可能在使用约10年内降低。本研究旨在评估水果提取物对成虫角质层的体外作用,作为一种天然替代疗法。
水果从埃及上埃及阿斯旺的当地市场采购,并在国家研究中心植物标本馆进行鉴定。通过扫描电子显微镜确定在含有240μg/ml提取物的林格溶液中孵育寄生虫24小时和48小时后,水果甲醇提取物对成虫的影响。
经测试的提取物处理引起的主要变化是角质层表面起皱和感觉乳头变形。这种角质层扭曲无疑会破坏其保护功能,可能足以将蠕虫从狗的肠道中驱除。
使用这种植物为新型杀线虫剂提供了机会,这是一种比更昂贵的驱虫药更经济的替代品。
