: To investigate the effects of inferior alveolar nerve on new bone formation in rabbit mandibular distraction osteogenesis. : 20 New Zealand White rabbits underwent bilateral distraction osteogenesis with a rate of 1 mm/day. The inferior alveolar nerve of one side was resected under the surgical microscope, with the inferior alveolar vascular intact. The contralateral side received sham operation. The rabbits were sacrificed at consolidation time of 28 days. The regenerate callus underwent radiograph examination, dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry, haematoxylin and eosin staining and histomorphometric analysis. A paired t-test was performed using SPSS 16.0 software package. : The BMD of the new bone in the distraction gap on the denervation side of mandibular was significantly lower (P<0.05) than on the control side. The histological investigation showed that the bone trabeculae were dis-arrayed containing dispersed cartilage cells on the denervation side, whereas the bone trabeculae were orderly with rich blood vessels and no cartilage cell on the control side. Both new bone volume and the thickness of new trabeculae were significantly lower on the denervation side than on the control side (P < 0.05). : The loss of the sensory nerves could result in a decrease of the new bone quality during the mandibular distraction osteogenesis.
研究下颌骨牵引成骨过程中下牙槽神经对新骨形成的影响。
20 只新西兰大白兔行双侧下颌骨牵引成骨术,每天 1mm。在手术显微镜下切断一侧下牙槽神经,保留下牙槽血管完整,对侧行假手术。28 天骨愈合时处死兔子。对再生骨痂行 X 线摄片、双能 X 线吸收仪、苏木精-伊红染色和组织形态计量学分析。应用 SPSS16.0 软件包行配对 t 检验。
神经切断侧下颌骨牵引间隙的新骨骨密度明显低于对侧(P<0.05)。组织学观察发现神经切断侧骨小梁排列紊乱,有散在的软骨细胞,而对侧骨小梁排列整齐,富含血管,无软骨细胞。神经切断侧新骨体积和新骨小梁厚度均明显低于对侧(P<0.05)。
感觉神经的丧失可能导致下颌骨牵引成骨过程中新骨质量下降。
