To elucidate the protective effect of berberine on olanzapine induced-metabolic syndrome.
This prospective experimental study involved thirty Sprague-Dawley male rats which were divided into three groups. Group A (n=10): Rats treated with distilled water, Group B (n=10): Rats treated with olanzapine, Group C (n=10): Rats treated with olanzapine plus berberine. The duration of the study was 8 weeks, baseline and follow up data were evaluated. Fasting blood glucose(FBG) total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG) and high-density lipoprotein (HDL), Low density lipoprotein (LDL), atherogenic index of plasma (AI), fasting serum insulin level, insulin resistance, β- cell function and insulin sensitivity were evaluated.SPSS 20.
Olanzepine led to significant deterioration in gluco-metabolic profile compared with control P<0.01. Olanzapine plus berberine improved body weight, FBG, FSI, HOMA-IR and QUICKI compared with olanzapine P=0.0001.

阐明小檗碱对奥氮平诱导的代谢综合征的保护作用。
本前瞻性实验研究纳入30只雄性Sprague-Dawley大鼠,分为三组。A组(n = 10):用蒸馏水治疗的大鼠;B组(n = 10):用奥氮平治疗的大鼠;C组(n = 10):用奥氮平加小檗碱治疗的大鼠。研究持续时间为8周,评估基线和随访数据。评估空腹血糖(FBG)、总胆固醇(TC)、甘油三酯(TG)、高密度脂蛋白(HDL)、低密度脂蛋白(LDL)、血浆致动脉粥样硬化指数(AI)、空腹血清胰岛素水平、胰岛素抵抗、β细胞功能和胰岛素敏感性。使用SPSS 20软件。
与对照组相比,奥氮平导致糖代谢状况显著恶化(P<0.01)。与奥氮平组相比,奥氮平加小檗碱改善了体重、FBG、FSI、HOMA-IR和QUICKI(P = 0.0001)。
小檗碱通过改善糖脂紊乱减轻奥氮平诱导的代谢异常。
