This exploration of stress-related disorders among nursing students employed a longitudinal cohort design over a period of two academic years. High depressive symptoms were reported by 55% of the sample. A majority of students experienced an increase in burnout symptoms and an increase in frequency of alcohol use during their educational years. These behaviors were related to a lack of social support and external attribution style.
