Abstract

OBJECTIVE

The aim of this study was to explore the effect of physical activity and metabolic parameters on irisin levels in patients with schizophrenia and healthy controls.

METHODS

Ninety-six patients with schizophrenia and 63 healthy controls comprised the study population. The participants were separated into three groups: inactive, low activity, and sufficiently active according to International Physical Activity Questionnaire short form (IPAQ-SF). We measured irisin levels using Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay. We also calculated exercise levels by using the IPAQ-SF for each individual. The independent samples test was used in the data analysis to compare irisin levels according to the activity levels of the patients with schizophrenia and controls.

RESULTS

The levels of irisin were higher in the healthy controls ( < 0.001) compared to schizophrenia groups. When the activity levels of the schizophrenia and healthy control groups were compared, the irisin levels of the low activity and sufficiently active groups with schizophrenia were found to be lower than those of the low activity and sufficiently active groups in the healthy controls (respectively = 0.014; < 0.001).

CONCLUSION

Irisin levels could be affected by physical activity and these results must be supported with new studies.

目的

本研究旨在探讨体育活动和代谢参数对精神分裂症患者及健康对照者鸢尾素水平的影响。

方法

96例精神分裂症患者和63名健康对照者组成了研究人群。根据国际体力活动问卷简表(IPAQ-SF),将参与者分为三组:不活动组、低活动组和足够活动组。我们使用酶联免疫吸附测定法测量鸢尾素水平。我们还通过使用IPAQ-SF为每个个体计算运动水平。数据分析中使用独立样本检验,根据精神分裂症患者和对照者的活动水平比较鸢尾素水平。

结果

与精神分裂症组相比,健康对照者的鸢尾素水平更高(<0.001)。当比较精神分裂症组和健康对照组的活动水平时,发现精神分裂症低活动组和足够活动组的鸢尾素水平低于健康对照者的低活动组和足够活动组(分别为=0.014;<0.001)。

结论

鸢尾素水平可能受体育活动影响,这些结果必须有新的研究加以佐证。
