A mild and simple protocol has been established for the formation of sulfenylated imidazo[1,5-]pyridines. This is a metal-free iodine/TBHP-mediated one-pot multicomponent reaction, which follows C-H functionalization of the imidazo[1,5-]pyridine skeleton formed during the reaction and its subsequent sulfenylation in the same step to offer sulfenylated imidazo[1,5-]pyridines in good to high yields. The extension and applications of this method have also been demonstrated.
