[Xanthomas of the Achilles tendon. Long-term results following total and partial resection].

In a 32-year-old man with Frederiksen's Type II beta-hyperlipoproteinemia, a total and a subtotal resection of the Achilles tendons were performed. The follow-up examination six years later confirmed the very good prospects of success of total resection and reconstruction of the Achilles tendon; this is the only long term result reported in the literature. Following subtotal resection residual complaints are likely to occur.
