Abstract

The process of wound healing is intricate and tightly controlled, involving a number of different cellular and molecular processes. Numerous cellular functions, especially those related to wound healing, depend critically on calcium ions (Ca). Ca channels are proteins involved in signal transduction and communication inside cells that allow calcium ions to pass through cell membranes. Key Ca channel types involved in wound repair are described in this review.
