The association between diet quality indices and oxidative stress biomarkers in male footballers and healthy active controls.

Abstract

OBJECTIVE

The aim of the present study was the association between the relationship between Dietary Quality Index-International (DQI-I) and Healthy Eating Index (HEI) and the urinary levels of F-isoprostane (F-IP) and 8-hydroxy-2'-deoxyguanosine (8-OHdG) was investigated as indicators of oxidative stress.

RESULTS

Based on HEI (low, moderate, and good), the diet quality of both groups was classified as moderate. In all participants, HEI (β=-0.29; P = 0.04) and DQI-I (β=-0.46; P = 0.005) were inversely associated with 8-OHdG. Furthermore, a negative correlation was found between HEI (mean β=-3.53; P = 0.04) and DQI-I (mean β=-5.53; P = 0.004) with F-IP. The quality of the footballers' diet was higher than that of the control group. Following a high-quality diet, which is rich in antioxidants, is likely to effectively reduce oxidative stress.

本研究旨在探讨膳食质量指数-国际(DQI-I)与健康饮食指数(HEI)与尿液中 F-异前列烷(F-IP)和 8-羟基-2'-脱氧鸟苷(8-OHdG)水平之间的关系,作为氧化应激的指标。

结果

根据 HEI(低、中、高),两组的饮食质量均被归类为中等。在所有参与者中,HEI(β=-0.29;P=0.04)和 DQI-I(β=-0.46;P=0.005)与 8-OHdG 呈负相关。此外,还发现 HEI(平均β=-3.53;P=0.04)和 DQI-I(平均β=-5.53;P=0.004)与 F-IP 呈负相关。足球运动员的饮食质量高于对照组。食用富含抗氧化剂的高质量饮食可能会有效降低氧化应激。
