Abstract

BACKGROUND

This paper describes the development and implementation of a multidisciplinary Cardiovascular Research Database at Hackensack University Medical Center, designed to provide clinicians with a comprehensive and reliable data resource for research.

PROJECT RATIONALE

The database initially focused on developing a Cardiogenic Shock (CGS) protocol and the creation of a CGS team. Data from a subset of CGS patients revealed areas for improvement in clinical practice and data collection. This led to the need for a comprehensive database to identify all CGS patients.

PROJECT SUMMARY

A team of physicians, research coordinators, and digital technology services providers created the database, where data is extracted from the EMR. The team validates and refines data points based on project goals.
