Abstract

Genetic factors have an appreciable role to play in oral health. This article investigates the genetic components of dental caries, periodontal disease, facial physical proportions, and other orofacial afflictions. Some of these disorders have been associated with specific genes. In genomics and molecular biology, the relationship between specific gene products and these kinds of disorders has been discovered. Genetic testing can thus be used to define people at higher risk for specific ailments, allowing for a specific therapeutic approach and early treatment. Gene therapy also offers great potential for treating several genetic diseases that affect oral health in the future. By exploring genetic data, we can get closer to a more effective way of applying it in dental practice.

摘要

遗传因素在口腔健康中起着相当重要的作用。本文研究了龋齿、牙周病、面部身体比例以及其他口腔颌面部疾病的遗传成分。其中一些疾病与特定基因有关。在基因组学和分子生物学领域,已经发现了特定基因产物与这类疾病之间的关系。因此,基因检测可用于确定患特定疾病风险较高的人群,从而采取特定的治疗方法并进行早期治疗。基因治疗在未来治疗几种影响口腔健康的遗传疾病方面也具有巨大潜力。通过探索遗传数据,我们可以更接近在牙科实践中更有效地应用它的方法。
