In recent years, luminescent materials with stimuli-responsive properties have attracted extensive attention. In this article, the gelation induced emission enhancement (GIEE) property of an 1,3,4-oxadiazole derivative (4-POXD-B8) was studied. The formation of the J-aggregate was viewed as the reason for this GIEE property, which was proved by UV-vis spectra. 4-POXD-B8 was found to exhibit a triple-channel (color, fluorescence and state change) response to trifluoroacetic acid (TFA). It was speculated that the reason for the acid responsiveness of 4-POXD-B8 was that the molecule was protonated after the addition of TFA, which can be confirmed by 1 H NMR and UV-vis spectra. In addition, the encryption-decryption process of information under visible and UV light was realized by using 4-POXD-B8 and TFA/triethylamine (TEA), which may provide some reference for future information storage.
