The purpose of this article is to review the available literature on mental health among counselors and other helping professionals, as well as help-seeking behaviors. One counselor educator/counselor’s experience seeking treatment for mental health concerns in an inpatient setting will be shared. Implications for counselor educators and counselors to better recognize warning signs for themselves and encourage help-seeking behaviors will be discussed.
