Abstract

Helcystogramma triannulella (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae) is a highly destructive pest that primarily targets crops within the Convolvulaceae family, causing significant agricultural losses. Although this species is economically significant, there are still few genomic resources available for it, which limits our ability to understand its biology and develop effective control strategies. Here, we present the first chromosome-scale genome assembly for H. triannulella generated with PacBio HiFi and Hi-C sequencing. The results showed that the final genome assembly had a total length of 387.28 Mb, containing 3,068 contigs and 2,152 scaffolds, with contig N50 and scaffold N50 reaching 2.28 Mb and 12.75 Mb, respectively. Through Hi-C-assisted scaffolding, 91.77% of the assembly was assigned to 30 chromosomes. The BUSCO completeness value was 96.2%. Additionally, 49.02% of the genome sequences were identified as repetitive elements, and a total of 14,211 protein-coding genes were annotated. In summary, the H. triannulella genome serves as a valuable resource for advancing our understanding of its biology and facilitating the development of targeted pest management strategies.
