Abstract

Since there is accumulating evidence for metabolic functions of proopiocortin peptides, we investigated 42 partial sequences for their lipolytic activity in isolated rabbit fat cells. 4 lipolytic active centers can be suggested: in the N-terminal part of proopiocortin (not gamma- and delta-MSH), in the N-terminal region of ACTH (ACTH 4-1o), in the beta-MSH sequence of beta-lipotropin and in the C-terminal region of beta-endorphin.
