It has been demonstrated in chronic experiments on cats that the reactions on the part of arterial pressure and heart rate evoked by dental pulp stimulation are highly resistant to the depressant action of phentanyl (1-30 micrograms/kg). Using multifactorial analysis of the data obtained one could reveal individual features of the effect of the analgetic on the nociceptive hemodynamic reactions determined by the initial status of the animals. The effect of phentanyl on cardiovascular shifts was found to develop regardless of the analgetic (emotiotropic) action.
