Male mice (19--20 g) were observed to have mitotic peaks in the zona fasciculata of the adrenal cortex during morning hours and in the first half of the day, while high values of nuclear volumes were characteristic of the said mice in the second half of the day and at night. In the zona glomerulosa, the mitotic index was increased in the second half of the day and in the evening hours, and the nuclear volume was greater at night-time.
观察发现，雄性小鼠（19 - 20克）肾上腺皮质束状带的有丝分裂高峰出现在上午时段及白天的前半段，而核体积的高值则出现在白天后半段及夜间。在球状带，有丝分裂指数在白天后半段及傍晚时段升高，核体积在夜间更大。
