To compare the stress experienced by parents of children with cochlear implants with that experienced by parents of deaf children and hearing children.
The Parenting Stress Index and problem-oriented interviews were used with the parents of these three groups of children.
Parents of deaf children were found to experience greater levels of stress than parents in the other two groups.
Parents of children with cochlear implants experience about the same level of stress as parents of hearing children.
