School nurse managers: the power to be productive.

In recent issues of the Journal of School Nursing within the Nursing Practice Management section, two key areas of management have been addressed. The first article (JOSN 14(1), Feb. 1998) provided assistance for nurses in making successful transitions from a clinic setting to the educational environment. The second (JOSN 14(2), April 1998) focused on utilization of the standards of school nursing practice in daily management issues. This paper will focus on ways in which school nurses can increase their productivity and effectiveness as managers of their health services environment.
