To study the chemical constituents of the rhizomes of Smilax china.
The constituents of the rhizomes of S. china were isolated and purified by repeated silica gel and Sephadex LH-20 chromatography, and their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectral analysis.
Thirteen compounds were obtained and identified as kaemperol-7-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside (1), engeletin (2), isoengeletin (3), kaempferol (4), dihydrokaempferol (5), dihydrokaempferol-5-O-P-D-glucopyranoside (6), rutin (7), kaempferol- 5-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside (8), 3, 5, 4'-trihydroxystibene (9), vanillic acid (10), 3, 5-dimethoxy4-O-beta-D-glu-copyranosylcinnamic acid (11), beta-sitosterol (12), and beta-daucosterol (13) , respectively.
Compounds 1, 3, 7, 8, and 11 were isolated from this plant for the first time, and compounds 8 and 11 were isolated from the genus Smilax for the first time.

采用反复硅胶柱色谱和葡聚糖凝胶LH - 20柱色谱对菝葜根茎的化学成分进行分离纯化,并通过波谱分析鉴定其结构。
分离得到13个化合物,分别鉴定为山柰酚-7-O-β-D-葡萄糖苷(1)、恩格勒苷(2)、异恩格勒苷(3)、山柰酚(4)、二氢山柰酚(5)、二氢山柰酚-5-O-β-D-葡萄糖苷(6)、芦丁(7)、山柰酚-5-O-β-D-葡萄糖苷(8)、3,5,4'-三羟基茋(9)、香草酸(10)、3,5-二甲氧基-4-O-β-D-葡萄糖基肉桂酸(11)、β-谷甾醇(12)和β-胡萝卜苷(13)。
化合物1、3、7、8和11为首次从该植物中分离得到,化合物8和11为首次从菝葜属植物中分离得到。
