Abstract

INTRODUCTION

This study compared the antibacterial efficacy of 2.5% sodium hypochlorite gel and 2.5% and 5.25% sodium hypochlorite solutions on () biofilm.

METHODS AND MATERIALS

The root canals of 60 extracted human single-rooted teeth were contaminated with and incubated for 6 weeks. The samples were randomly assigned to three experimental groups and one control group (=15). The study protocol in the experimental groups consisted of injection of 5 mL of each irrigant into the root canals. Samples were collected from the root canal walls and 1:10 serial dilutions were prepared and added to Muller Hinton Agar (MHA) plates and incubated at 37C for 48 h. A classic colony counting technique was used for determining vital bacterial counts in MHA plates. The Kruskal-Wallis test was used for statistical analysis of the data. The level of significance was set at 0.05.

RESULTS

The antibacterial effect of the irrigants in all three experimental groups was significantly greater than the control group (<0.05), with no significant difference between 2.5% and 5.25% NaOCl solutions (>0.05). The effect of 2.5% and 5.25% NaOCl solutions were significantly superior to 2.5% NaOCl gel (<0.05).

CONCLUSION

Under the limitations of this study, 2.5% NaOCl gel was effective in reducing counts; however this effect was less than that of NaOCl solutions.

本研究比较了2.5%次氯酸钠凝胶以及2.5%和5.25%次氯酸钠溶液对()生物膜的抗菌效果。

方法与材料

60颗拔除的人单根牙的根管被(物质)污染并培养6周。样本被随机分为三个实验组和一个对照组(每组15个)。实验组的研究方案包括向根管内注入5毫升每种冲洗剂。从根管壁采集样本,制备1:10系列稀释液并添加到穆勒-欣顿琼脂(MHA)平板上,在37℃孵育48小时。采用经典菌落计数技术测定MHA平板上的活菌数。使用Kruskal-Wallis检验对数据进行统计分析。显著性水平设定为0.05。

结果

所有三个实验组中冲洗剂的抗菌效果均显著大于对照组(P<0.05),2.5%和5.25%次氯酸钠溶液之间无显著差异(P>0.05)。2.5%和5.25%次氯酸钠溶液的效果显著优于2.5%次氯酸钠凝胶(P<0.05)。

结论

在本研究的局限性下,2.5%次氯酸钠凝胶在减少(细菌数量)方面有效;然而这种效果低于次氯酸钠溶液。
