Behcet's disease (BD) is a chronic, relapsing, systemic vasculitis of unknown etiology.
To measure serum ghrelin levels in BD patients and healthy controls and to investigate its association with metabolic syndrome (MetS).
Thirty BD patients and 30 healthy individuals were enrolled in the study. Ghrelin levels were measured in blood samples using ELISA.
The mean serum ghrelin level in BD patients (28.57 ±14.04) was significantly lower compared to healthy controls (40.72 ±23.21) ( = 0.01). The mean serum ghrelin level in BD patients who had MetS (24.18 ±12.73) was lower compared to BD patients who did not have MetS (30.77 ±14.45), but this difference was not significant ( > 0.05).
Ghrelin levels were lower in BD patients compared to healthy controls. There was no association between reduced ghrelin levels and MetS; however, there was a negative correlation between ghrelin levels and disease activity.
白塞病（BD）是一种病因不明的慢性、复发性全身性血管炎。
测定白塞病患者和健康对照者的血清胃饥饿素水平，并研究其与代谢综合征（MetS）的关系。
本研究纳入30例白塞病患者和30名健康个体。采用酶联免疫吸附测定法（ELISA）检测血样中的胃饥饿素水平。
白塞病患者的血清胃饥饿素平均水平（28.57±14.04）显著低于健康对照者（40.72±23.21）（P = 0.01）。患有代谢综合征的白塞病患者的血清胃饥饿素平均水平（24.18±12.73）低于未患代谢综合征的白塞病患者（30.77±14.45），但这种差异不显著（P>0.05）。
与健康对照者相比，白塞病患者的胃饥饿素水平较低。胃饥饿素水平降低与代谢综合征之间无关联；然而，胃饥饿素水平与疾病活动度呈负相关。
