A novel marine bacterial strain, designated JAM 119, was isolated from a tubeworm trophosome in Kagoshima Bay, Japan. Cells were Gram-negative, rod-shaped, non-spore-forming aerobic chemoorganotrophs and motile by means of a single polar flagellum. The isolate grew optimally at 25-27 °C and in the presence of 3 % NaCl. The major respiratory quinone was Q-10. The predominant fatty acid was C18 : 1ω7c. Phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylglycerol and an unidentified aminolipid were the major polar lipids. On the basis of 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis, the isolated strain was closely affiliated with members of the genus Planktotalea in the class Alphaproteobacteria, and the 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity of the new isolates with the closest related species, Planktotalea frisia SH6-1, was 97.3 %. The DNA G+C content of the novel strain was 57.0 mol%. Based on differences in taxonomic characteristics, the isolated strain represents a novel species of the genus Planktotalea, for which the name Planktotalealamellibrachiae sp. nov. (type strain JAM 119; JCM 31859=DSMZ 104669) is proposed.
从日本鹿儿岛湾的一种管虫营养体中分离出了一种新型海洋细菌菌株,命名为JAM 119。细胞为革兰氏阴性、杆状、不形成芽孢的需氧化学有机营养菌,通过单根极生鞭毛运动。该分离株在25-27°C和3% NaCl存在的条件下生长最佳。主要呼吸醌为Q-10。主要脂肪酸为C18:1ω7c。磷脂酰胆碱、磷脂酰甘油和一种未鉴定的氨基脂质是主要的极性脂质。基于16S rRNA基因序列分析,分离出的菌株与α-变形菌纲浮游总菌属的成员密切相关,新分离株与最接近的相关物种弗里西亚浮游总菌SH6-1的16S rRNA基因序列相似性为97.3%。该新菌株的DNA G+C含量为57.0 mol%。基于分类学特征的差异,该分离株代表了浮游总菌属的一个新物种,为此提出了浮游总菌属鳃板菌新种(模式菌株JAM 119;JCM 31859 = DSMZ 104669)。
