Abstract

Health literacy is one of the effective factors in health promotion of chronic patients. However, little attention has been paid to it; no exact and clear definition of health literacy has ever been accessible in chronic diseases. This study was conducted with aim of defining and clarifying attributes, antecedents, and consequences of health literacy in multiple sclerosis (MS) patients. Rodgers' evolutionary method of concept analysis was used to clarify the concept of health literacy in MS patients. A literature review was conducted with key terms "multiple sclerosis", "health literacy", "information literacy", "functional health", "health education", "health promotion" and "health behavior". Eight hundred and sixty papers for the period 1980- 2019 were found and finally 23 articles and texts were selected for the analysis. Data analysis was carried out using a thematic analysis. Health literacy in MS patients is a multidimensional concept with forth attributes: health information evaluation, understand disease and its related issues, reading skills and capacity to use knowledge. Ability to read and comprehend, interacting with health personnel, and interacting with peers as an antecedents and improved self-care, health promotion, medication adherence, and decreased use of health care services to be the consequences of these attributes were found. The findings can add knowledge about the concept of health literacy in MS patients. Also, health care professionals can use a deeper understanding of the concept of health literacy in providing care plan for MS patients.

健康素养是慢性病患者健康促进的有效因素之一。然而,人们对其关注甚少;在慢性病领域,从未有过关于健康素养的确切明确定义。本研究旨在界定并阐明多发性硬化症(MS)患者健康素养的属性、影响因素及结果。采用罗杰斯的概念分析演进方法来阐明MS患者的健康素养概念。通过使用关键词“多发性硬化症”“健康素养”“信息素养”“功能健康”“健康教育”“健康促进”和“健康行为”进行文献综述。共检索到1980年至2019年期间的860篇论文,最终选取23篇文章和文本进行分析。采用主题分析法进行数据分析。MS患者的健康素养是一个具有四个属性的多维概念:健康信息评估、了解疾病及其相关问题、阅读技能和知识运用能力。研究发现,阅读和理解能力、与医护人员互动以及与同伴互动是这些属性的影响因素,而自我护理改善、健康促进、药物依从性提高以及医疗服务使用减少是这些属性的结果。这些研究结果可以增加对MS患者健康素养概念的认识。此外,医护人员在为MS患者制定护理计划时,可以更深入地理解健康素养概念。
