Infectious diseases are among the major health issues of the 21st century. The substantial use of antibiotics over the years has contributed to the dissemination of multidrug resistant bacteria. According to a recent report by the World Health Organization, antibacterial (ATB) drug resistance has been one of the biggest challenges, as well as the development of effective long-term ATBs. Since pathogens quickly adapt and evolve through several strategies, regular ATBs usually may result in temporary or noneffective treatments. Therefore, the demand for new therapies methods, such as nano-drug delivery systems (NDDS), has aroused huge interest due to its potentialities to improve the drug bioavailability and targeting efficiency, including liposomes, nanoemulsions, solid lipid nanoparticles, polymeric nanoparticles, metal nanoparticles, and others. Given the relevance of this subject, this review aims to summarize the progress of recent research in antibacterial therapeutic drugs supported by nanobiotechnological tools.
传染病是21世纪的主要健康问题之一。多年来抗生素的大量使用导致了多重耐药菌的传播。根据世界卫生组织最近的一份报告,抗菌药物耐药性一直是最大的挑战之一,同时也是有效长效抗菌药物的研发难题。由于病原体通过多种策略快速适应和进化,常规抗菌药物通常可能导致临时或无效的治疗。因此,对新治疗方法的需求,如纳米药物递送系统(NDDS),因其在提高药物生物利用度和靶向效率方面的潜力而引起了极大的兴趣,包括脂质体、纳米乳剂、固体脂质纳米粒、聚合物纳米粒、金属纳米粒等。鉴于该主题的相关性,本综述旨在总结纳米生物技术工具支持下抗菌治疗药物的最新研究进展。
