Abstract

Sleep is essential for the proper functioning of all individuals. Sleep-disordered breathing can occur at any age and is a common reason for medical visits. The objective of this consensus is to update knowledge about the main causes of sleep-disordered breathing in adult and pediatric populations, with an emphasis on obstructive sleep apnea. Obstructive sleep apnea is an extremely prevalent but often underdiagnosed disease. It is often accompanied by comorbidities, notably cardiovascular, metabolic, and neurocognitive disorders, which have a significant impact on quality of life and mortality rates. Therefore, to create this consensus, the Sleep-Disordered Breathing Department of the Brazilian Thoracic Association brought together 14 experts with recognized, proven experience in sleep-disordered breathing.

睡眠对于所有人的正常机能运作都是必不可少的。睡眠呼吸障碍可发生于任何年龄,是就诊的常见原因。本次共识的目的是更新关于成人和儿科人群中睡眠呼吸障碍主要病因的知识,重点是阻塞性睡眠呼吸暂停。阻塞性睡眠呼吸暂停是一种极其普遍但往往诊断不足的疾病。它常伴有多种合并症,特别是心血管、代谢和神经认知障碍,这对生活质量和死亡率有重大影响。因此,为了制定本次共识,巴西胸科协会睡眠呼吸障碍部门召集了 14 名在睡眠呼吸障碍方面具有公认、经验丰富的专家。
