Abstract

BACKGROUND

This study investigated the effects of 12-week resistance training on body composition, blood pressure, blood lipid levels, muscle cross-sectional area (CSA), isokinetic muscle function, and hemorheological properties in middle-aged obese women.

METHODS

Twenty-eight obese women with a mean age of 50.79 5.80 years were randomly assigned to the control (CON, n = 13) or experimental (EXP, n = 15) group. The EXP group underwent a resistance training program composed of warm-up, main resistance exercise (deadlift, barbell squat, seated leg extension, and lying leg curl, bench press, preacher bench biceps curl, barbell rowing, and dumbbell shoulder press), and cool-down. The resistance exercise consisted of three sets of 8-10 repetitions (reps) performed with 70-80% of 1-rep maximum, and reps and sets were increased every 3 weeks. The training frequency was 80 min, 3 days per week for 12 weeks. The CON group maintained their daily lifestyle without training. All participants underwent measurements of body composition (weight, body mass index, lean body mass, fat mass, and % body fat), blood pressure (systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, mean arterial pressure, and pulse pressure), blood lipid levels (triglycerides, total cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol), CSA of the muscles (quadriceps, hamstring, and total thigh muscle), isokinetic muscle function (peak torque [PT], relative PT, mean power, and total work [TW]), and hemorheological properties (erythrocyte deformability and aggregation) before and after 12 weeks of training.

RESULTS

The EXP group showed a significant improved muscle function, including PT ( 0.001), relative PT ( 0.001) in extension 60°/s, TW ( 0.001) in extension 180°/s, and TW ( = 0.018) in flexion 180°/s. Regarding hemorheological properties, the EXP group showed significant improvement in erythrocyte aggregation ( 0.001) and deformability ( 0.001).

CONCLUSIONS

The present study verified that our resistance training program resulted in greater muscle function, decreased fat mass, and improved hemorheological properties.

本研究调查了为期12周的抗阻训练对中年肥胖女性身体成分、血压、血脂水平、肌肉横截面积(CSA)、等速肌肉功能和血液流变学特性的影响。

方法

28名平均年龄为50.79±5.80岁的肥胖女性被随机分为对照组(CON,n = 13)或实验组(EXP,n = 15)。实验组进行了一项抗阻训练计划,包括热身、主要抗阻运动(硬拉、杠铃深蹲、坐姿腿伸展、躺姿腿弯举、卧推、牧师椅弯举、杠铃划船和哑铃肩推)以及放松活动。抗阻运动包括以1次最大重复量的70 - 80%进行三组,每组8 - 10次重复,每3周增加重复次数和组数。训练频率为每周3天,每次80分钟,共12周。对照组保持日常生活方式,不进行训练。所有参与者在训练12周前后进行了身体成分(体重、体重指数、去脂体重、脂肪量和体脂百分比)、血压(收缩压、舒张压、平均动脉压和脉压)、血脂水平(甘油三酯、总胆固醇、高密度脂蛋白胆固醇和低密度脂蛋白胆固醇)、肌肉CSA(股四头肌、腘绳肌和大腿总肌肉)、等速肌肉功能(峰值扭矩[PT]、相对PT、平均功率和总功[TW])以及血液流变学特性(红细胞变形性和聚集性)的测量。

结果

实验组在肌肉功能方面有显著改善,包括60°/s伸展时的PT(P < 0.001)、相对PT(P < 0.001),180°/s伸展时的TW(P < 0.001)以及180°/s屈曲时的TW(P = 0.018)。在血液流变学特性方面,实验组的红细胞聚集性(P < 0.001)和变形性(P < 0.001)有显著改善。

结论

本研究证实,我们的抗阻训练计划可带来更大的肌肉功能、减少脂肪量并改善血液流变学特性。
