Being one of the pivotal adipocytokines, adiponectin binds to various receptors and exerts diverse biological functions, encompassing anti-fibrosis, anti-atherosclerosis, anti-ischemia-reperfusion, regulation of inflammation, and modulation of glucose and lipid metabolism. Alterations in adiponectin levels are observed in patients afflicted with diverse cardiovascular diseases. This paper comprehensively reviews the impact of adiponectin on the pathogenesis and progression of cardiovascular diseases, elucidating the underlying cellular and molecular mechanisms along with the associated cell signaling pathways. Furthermore, it deliberates on the diagnostic and predictive efficacy of adiponectin as a protein marker for cardiovascular diseases. Additionally, it outlines methods for manipulating adiponectin levels .
