A Gram-stain-positive, facultatively anaerobic, motile with peritrichous flagella, and rod-shaped bacterium, designated as P15, was isolated from an agricultural soil sample collected in Jiangxi Province, PR China. Strain P15 completely degraded 100 mg/L of mesotrione, a herbicide, within 48 h of incubation. Strain P15 grew at 15-42 °C (optimum 30 °C), pH 6.0-9.0 (optimum 7.0), and 0-4.0% (w/v) NaCl (optimum 1.0%). Strain P15 exhibited less than 93.3% 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity with type strains of genus Paenibacillus. In the phylogenetic tree based on 16S rRNA gene sequences, strain P15 was clustered in genus Paenibacillus and formed a subclade with P. cavernae C4-5, P. contaminans CKOBP-6, and P. doosanensis CAU 1005. The major cellular fatty acids (≥ 5% of the total) were anteiso-C, iso-C, C, C, and iso-C. The predominant respiratory quinone was MK-7. The major polar lipids were diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycero, phosphatidylethanolamine, one unidentified glycolipid, one unidentified aminophosphoglycolipid, two unidentified aminophospholipids, two unidentified phospholipid, and two unidentified lipids. The diagnostic diamino acid of the peptidoglycan was meso-diaminopimelic acid. The DNA G + C content was 53.9 mol%. Based on the phylogenetic, phenotypic, and chemotaxonomic characteristics, strain P15 represents a novel species within genus Paenibacillus, for which the name Paenibacillus mesotrionivorans sp. nov is proposed, with strain P15 (= MCCC 1K09191 = KCTC 43705) as the type strain.
从中国江西省采集的一份农业土壤样本中分离出一株革兰氏染色阳性、兼性厌氧、具周生鞭毛且能运动的杆状细菌,命名为P15。菌株P15在培养48小时内可完全降解100mg/L的除草剂甲基磺草酮。菌株P15在15 - 42°C(最适温度30°C)、pH 6.0 - 9.0(最适pH 7.0)和0 - 4.0%(w/v)NaCl(最适浓度1.0%)条件下生长。菌株P15与类芽孢杆菌属模式菌株的16S rRNA基因序列相似性低于93.3%。在基于16S rRNA基因序列构建的系统发育树中,菌株P15聚类在类芽孢杆菌属,并与洞穴类芽孢杆菌C4 - 5、污染类芽孢杆菌CKOBP - 6和斗山类芽孢杆菌CAU 1005形成一个亚分支。主要细胞脂肪酸(占总量≥5%)为anteiso - C、iso - C、C、C和iso - C。主要呼吸醌为MK - 7。主要极性脂为双磷脂酰甘油、磷脂酰甘油、磷脂酰乙醇胺、一种未鉴定的糖脂、一种未鉴定的氨基磷酸糖脂、两种未鉴定的氨基磷脂、两种未鉴定的磷脂以及两种未鉴定的脂类。肽聚糖的诊断性二氨基酸为内消旋二氨基庚二酸。DNA G + C含量为53.9mol%。基于系统发育、表型和化学分类学特征,菌株P15代表类芽孢杆菌属内的一个新物种,为此提出新名称嗜甲基磺草酮类芽孢杆菌(Paenibacillus mesotrionivorans sp. nov),菌株P15(= MCCC 1K09191 = KCTC 43705)为模式菌株。
