Abstract

To assess the efficacy of autologous bone marrow aspirate (BMA) in reducing pain and improving functionality in patients with knee osteoarthritis (OA), in comparison with intraarticular corticosteroid injection and genicular nerve block.  A prospective, randomized, controlled, single-blinded, comparative, and analytical clinical study was conducted. There were 50 patients with knee OA divided into two groups: an intervention group receiving BMA treatment and a control group undergoing standard corticosteroid articular infiltration and genicular block. Outcome measures were evaluated using the Western Ontario and McMaster universities osteoarthritis index (WOMAC).  After 6 months, significant pain reduction was noted in the BMA group compared with the control group (  = 0.030). No significant differences were found in stiffness and physical activity scores between the groups. The intervention group demonstrated significant improvements in all assessed WOMAC subcategories pre- and posttreatment.  Treatment with BMA can significantly reduce pain, potentially leading to improved knee functionality, suggesting its potential as a viable therapeutic option for managing knee OA.

为评估自体骨髓抽吸物(BMA)与关节内注射皮质类固醇和膝神经阻滞相比,在减轻膝骨关节炎(OA)患者疼痛及改善功能方面的疗效。进行了一项前瞻性、随机、对照、单盲、比较性分析临床研究。50例膝OA患者分为两组:干预组接受BMA治疗,对照组接受标准皮质类固醇关节腔浸润和膝神经阻滞。使用西安大略和麦克马斯特大学骨关节炎指数(WOMAC)评估结果指标。6个月后,与对照组相比,BMA组疼痛明显减轻(P = 0.030)。两组之间在僵硬和身体活动评分方面未发现显著差异。干预组在治疗前后所有评估的WOMAC亚类中均有显著改善。BMA治疗可显著减轻疼痛,可能改善膝关节功能,表明其作为治疗膝OA的可行治疗选择的潜力。
