Cell-mediated immunity to varicella-zoster antigen was assessed by lymphocyte transformation in fourteen patients with acute herpes zoster and in a group of twelve healthy controls. There was a significant dimunition in cell-mediated immunity to this antigen in the patient group when compared to the controls but no definite difference was observed in the responses to phytohaemagglutinin and PPD measured at the same time. It was suggested that this lack of cell-mediated immunity contributes to the evolution of the disease.
通过淋巴细胞转化试验评估了14例急性带状疱疹患者及12名健康对照者对水痘-带状疱疹抗原的细胞介导免疫。与对照组相比，患者组对该抗原的细胞介导免疫显著降低，但同时检测的对植物血凝素和结核菌素纯蛋白衍生物（PPD）的反应未观察到明显差异。提示这种细胞介导免疫的缺乏促成了疾病的发展。
