Fifty patients with premature uterine contractions were treated with the uterine relaxant Fenoterol in combination with the calcium antagonist Verapamil. In order to exclude the possibility of myocardial damage, the heart-muscle-specific isoenzym Creatinkinase MB was routinely evaluated, in addition to ECG-checks. In none of the cases could a significant enzyme activity be shown, even in long-term therapy with high doses of Fenoterol.
