46 patients who had an unusually severe reaction after bee or wasp sting were examined by skin testing and determination of specific IgE antibodies. In this way 10 cases of bee venom hypersensitivity and 13 cases of wasp venom hypersensitivity were diagnosed. Thus it may be claimed to prove the existence of specific IgE antibodies in each patient who showed a systemic or intense local reaction after an insect sting.
